Located right at the Beach Retreat & Lodge in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, the full-service marina rents kayaks, paddle boards, power boats, pedal boats, sailboats and jet skis through Action Watersports, as well as beach cabanas, lounge chairs and umbrellas. Timber Cove Marina offers a fuel dock, gift shop, sailing cruises, private charters, and Tahoe Thunder rides. It's also a stop for the Fun Runner Water Taxi for summer adventures and sightseeing on Lake Tahoe.

Lakeside Beach

Spend a summer day at this beautiful sandy beach on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Lakeside Beach is a sandy spot for swimming, sunning, picnics, and summer fun in South Lake Tahoe. The beach offers chairs and umbrella rentals, a volleyball net, picnic tables, a play area, and a lifeguard. The Lakeside Marina offers boat, kayak, and jet ski rentals and is a stop for the water taxi from the Timber Cove Marina at the Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe. Summer beach passes are $5  for kids and $10 for adults.

Pope Beach

Van Sickle Bi-State Park

Van Sickle is one the most beautiful and accessible parks in the South Tahoe Basin. The state park offers easy to moderate hiking trails studded with rock outcroppings with amazing views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountain peaks. Hiking Mt. Tallac Trail

Located 3.5 miles north of South Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Mt. Tallac Trail offers 10.5 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, from easy to difficult, with a 3,500-foot elevation gain. One of the more scenic and challenging hikes in the South Lake Tahoe area, climbing the face of Mount Tallac, the trail offers spectacular views of Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake, Cathedral Lake and the Desolation Wilderness. Mount Tallac is a 9,739-foot mountain peak within the Eldorado National Forest.

Lower Eagle Falls

Hike the scenic mountain trail through Emerald Bay State Park to the spectacular Lower Eagles Falls. Start at the 1-mile Lower Eagles Trail from the parking lot down to the waters of Emerald Bay, one of the most beautiful spots in the South Tahoe Basin, then take the 0.3-mile trail from the Visitor Center to the set of tiered waterfalls that cascade into the sparkling bay and Eagle Creek. Located in South Lake Tahoe, this awesome waterfall is a must-see in the spring, falling in two large cascades.

Heavenly Mountain Gondola

Enjoy a scenic 2.4-mile ride up Heavenly Mountain in the spring and summer and soak up panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada peaks. On your way up the mountain, stop at the Observation Deck to snap a few photos. At the top, take the Tamarack Express chairlift to a series of hiking trails and the most breathtaking views of the blue-green lake. You can take the Heavenly Shuttle from the Beach Retreat & Lodge to the gondola in Heavenly Village.

South Lake Tahoe Fishing

Lake Tahoe is a popular fishing destination and home to a variety of fish, including lake (mackinaw), rainbow and brown trout, kokanee salmon, and largemouth bass. Try fishing from a pier, from the beach or on a fishing charter to the deep waters of this deep alpine lake. Some top fishing spots in South Lake Tahoe include Fallen Leaf Lake and Taylor Creek.
